Managing Director & Co-Founder

Wan Li Zhu is the Managing Director and Co-Founder of MIT Alumni Angels, where he runs Boston and New York chapters.  Wan Li has also been an early stage technology venture capital investor with Fairhaven Capital based in Boston, where his investments focus on AI-based expertise automation and marketplace platforms. Prior to that, Wan Li ran product development and technical marketing organizations at Microsoft Dynamics CRM, which became the fastest growing business in the company’s history and the first to launch a SaaS offering. Wan Li has also spent time at Google in online advertising, at Morgan Stanley in technology investment banking, and at Merrill Lynch in IT. Wan Li serves as Chairman of the MIT Enterprise Forum of Cambridge and Executive Chairman of the New England Venture Network. Wan Li holds an MBA from Harvard, and Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT where he completed research at the Media Lab and Lab for Financial Engineering.



Ishan Sachdev is Co-Founder of MIT Alumni Angels.  He is also a growth equity investor at Providence Strategic Growth, where he focuses on high growth software investments.  Previously, he worked at iPay Technologies, a growth-stage payments startup, where he led a successful process to sell the company, at Bain Capital Ventures as a venture capital & growth equity investor, and at Goldman Sachs as a proprietary credit trader. He also spent time at the U.S. Department of the Treasury working on financial markets policy.  He mentors for several startup accelerators including MassChallenge, the Techstars Barclays Accelerator, 500 Startups, and the MIT Sandbox.  He received a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School, where he graduated with Distinction, and a Master of Engineering and a Bachelor of Science from MIT, both in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.
